Twelve young men and women from all over the
country have been selected to compete for the title Fit ‘n Right
Ambassadors in a new reality show called Got 2B Fit Challenge.
From among thousands of hopefuls who underwent
auditions and evaluation, the ten finalists will be sent to the Fit
‘n Right camp at the Las Haciendas in Batangas where they will
have to undergo both physical and mental challenges to help them
achieve the body type they’ve always aspired for.
The four-week camp will determine if they’ve
got what it takes to serve as role models for the many young men and
women who are currently either overweight or obese, who want to be
inspired that nothing is impossible if will, determination, focus
and discipline are present in achieving their goals.
This concept-driven program is a tie-up between
giant network ABS-CBN and premium health drink Del Monte Fit ‘n
Right, the first and only juice drink with the revolutionary L-Carnitine
that helps burn fat. According to Juan Paolo Gonzales, brand manager
for Del Monte Fit n’ Right, the campaign aims to improve the
participants’ total physical appearance, general well-being and
character. “We hope that by the end of the camp, each of the
contestants will feel better and love themselves more. And if
they’re lucky, the search can pave the way for a chance to become
not only fit and fabulous but also famous.” The grand winners will
have the chance to become a talent of Star Magic, the talent
management arm of the ABS-CBN entertainment network.
The Times spoke to some of the finalists and
most of them have dreams of becoming famous celebrities someday. Jim
Oller, a young engineer from Bataan, wants to be an actor someday
and he feels that this reality show might be his stepping-stone to a
great future. “Who doesn’t want to become a star?” he says,
adding, “But I know that becoming one entails a lot of
requirements. I have to be fit first, and be physically prepared for
the hard work ahead.” Oller used to weigh a hefty 233 pounds, and
he has already started his regimen of losing weight when he found
out about the new show.
Angel Lindayen shares that she has been
broken-hearted several times because her ex-boyfriends got turned
off when she started to balloon uncontrollably. “Perhaps they
don’t love me enough. But I admit that every break-up hurts like
hell. So when I heard of this chance, I convinced myself that I
might be able to stand the challenge and become a ‘new me.’ And
if I’m lucky to win this contest, it will be nice to go back to
the boys who have hurt and left me, and have the last laugh.”
The youngest among the finalists, John Separado,
flew fall the way from faraway Davao to take a shot at being fit and
fab. “Probinsyano po ako pero gusto ko rin pong matupad ang mga
pangarap ko. Ano man ang kahihinatnan ng contest na ito, babalik ako
sa Davao na mas confident, mas maganda ang katawan, mas may focus sa
buhay at mas masayang tao. [I’m from the province, but I also want
to fulfill my dreams. Whatever happens in this contest, I’ll
return to Davao more confident, with a better body, having a better
focus on life and a happier person.]”
Besides Oller, Lindayen and Separado, the other
finalists include Joanne Ignacio, half-Italian Alex Lindenberg who
hails from Pampanga, single mom Amy Macuto, Ateneo graduate JR
Marfori, Julie Puentenegra, Elmer Sanga and Gayle Valencia from
Cagayan de Oro.
After their month-long fitness and makeover camp
in Batangas, the survivors will be flown to Boracay by Seair to
battle it out for the top prizes at stake during the Holy Week. This
culminating event will be aired in a one-hour special on March 29.
Two winners will be half a million pesos richer by the end of the
competition.
The Del Monte Got 2B Fit Challenge will air on
ABS-CBN every Saturday starting February 23. For these 10 young men
and women, being fit is a real challenge. But they’ll prove that
it can be fun, too.
