Men who cry

Related to your editorial, “Crybabies organize” (Feb. 17), you may be interested to know that Jesus Christ wept a lot. King David was also a great weeper.

Former US President Richard Nixon cried when he delivered his famous “Checkers (the name of his dog) Speech” and told newsmen, “Now you don’t have a Nixon to kick around anymore.”

The actor Patrick (“Dirty Dancing”) Swayze cried on a TV show. He said it was sad his father did not live long enough to see him become a movie star. Then he started sobbing.

Sen. Edmund Muskie was a leading candidate for the De­mocratic Party presidential nomination in 1972. A New Hampshire newspaper however attacked his wife and Muskie, during a speech, started sobbing. Some analysts said the incident cost him the nomination.

Recently Sen. Hillary Clinton was talking with a group of women about the hardships of  politics when her eyes started to well. The TV eye caught that moment and she won the state primary after the incident.
