Galing Pook has announced the 2007 awardees for the top 10
outstanding local governance programs, ranging from programs for
social services, justice, and economic development, to
infrastructure and environmental protection. This year’s awardees
are a showcase of diverse and feasible programs that can be
replicated, and even improved on by other local governments.
This year’s awardees are Bindoy, Oriental
Negros; Cebu City; Infanta, Quezon; Isabela Province; Las Piñas
City; Marikina City; Naga City; PALMA Alliance, Cotabato; San Mateo,
Isabela; and San Carlos City.
The national selection committee was composed of
various leaders in the public and private sector led by Galing Pook
Foundation Chairman and former Governor Rafael Coscolluela, and
Galing Pook Awards Selection Committee Chairman and former Economic
Development Authority Chief Cielito Habito. Awardees will be
recognized in ceremonies at Malacañang.
“These exemplary practices show that good
local governance is alive and well in the country” said Galing
Pook Chairman Rafael Coscolluela.
