‘Galing Pook’ cites top 10
local governance programs

Galing Pook has announced the 2007 awardees for the top 10 outstanding local governance programs, ranging from programs for social services, justice, and economic development, to infrastructure and environmental protection. This year’s awardees are a showcase of diverse and feasible programs that can be replicated, and even improved on by other local governments.

This year’s awardees are Bindoy, Oriental Negros; Cebu City; Infanta, Quezon; Isabela Province; Las Piñas City; Marikina City; Naga City; PALMA Alliance, Cotabato; San Mateo, Isabela; and San Carlos City.

The national selection committee was composed of various leaders in the public and private sector led by Galing Pook Foundation Chairman and former Governor Rafael Coscolluela, and Galing Pook Awards Selection Committee Chairman and former Economic Development Authority Chief Cielito Habito.  Awardees will be recognized in ceremonies at Malacañang.

“These exemplary practices show that good local governance is alive and well in the country” said Galing Pook Chairman Rafael Coscolluela.
