Army general investigated for extortion

Military official assigned in Mindanao victimized candidate soldiers and mismanaged militia funds

ALLEGATIONS of corruption and scandals continue to hound the Armed Forces of the Philippines, with the latest involving a Mindanao-based Army division commander who was placed under investigation for extortion activities.

The ranking Army official, Major Gen. Jose Barbierto has taken a leave of absence from his post as commander of the Fourth Infantry Division over the corruption allegation.
