Military official assigned in Mindanao victimized
candidate soldiers and mismanaged militia funds
ALLEGATIONS of corruption and scandals continue
to hound the Armed Forces of the Philippines, with the latest
involving a Mindanao-based Army division commander who was placed
under investigation for extortion activities.
The ranking Army official, Major Gen. Jose
Barbierto has taken a leave of absence from his post as commander of
the Fourth Infantry Division over the corruption allegation.
THE Philippine National Police on Friday announced that it would be
installing more surveillance cameras around Metro Manila as part of
its anti-criminality campaign.
The leaders of two Filipino organizations–one in the US and the
other in Germany–traveled back home recently to share their
members’ blessings with their compatriots.
