Abelardo Tolentino Jr., president and chief executive officer of
architecture and design firm Aidea Philippines Inc., was recently
conferred the Innovation Entrepreneur award at the prestigious
Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines 2007 awards.
Tolentino was recognized for applying innovative
approaches, business solutions, and technologies that resulted in
improved business processes and company growth.
The Harvard-educated architect Tolentino was
also cited for his breakthrough and ingenious projects at Aidea,
which have created opportunities for Filipino architects and
interior designers to produce world-class work locally, without
leaving the country.
A project of SGV Foundation, Inc. and Ernst
& Young Philippines, the Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines
awards recognizes the achievements of the most successful and
innovative entrepreneurs in the country. The awards ceremony was
held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City.
According to Tolentino, “Filipino architects
and designers are brilliant artists, at par with the best creative
minds in Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States.”
Tolentino is one of a few outstanding
individuals from different industries honored with special citations
at the Entrepreneur of the Year Philippines 2007 awards.
Wilfred Steven Uytengsu Jr., president and CEO
of Alaska Milk Corp., was named the 2007 Entrepreneur Of The Year
Philippines. Other awardees include Cibo, Inc. president and CEO
Margarita Fores (Woman Entrepreneur award), Rajo Laurel Enterprises
president and creative director Raymund Joseph Laurel (Small
Business Entrepreneur award), Hausland Development Corporation
president and CEO Wilfredo Tan (Realty and Construction Entrepreneur
award), and Unlad Kabayan Migrant Service Foundation executive
director Maria Angela Villalba.
Aidea, which Tolentino founded in 2004, is an
all-Filipino company that provides its clients a range of services
that includes architectural design, interior design, planning,
project management, landscape design, graphic design, research and
development, and offshore services. Its clients include Ayala Land
Inc. and Procter & Gamble.
Close to 50 percent of the company’s business
is composed of overseas projects from clients based in Belgium,
China, France, Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Arab
Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States, among other
countries.
