Farley del Rosario’s fascination
with action figures
|
|
After the well-received Singapore exhibit of his
“Playland” series, Farley del Rosario now takes play at a higher
level of critique by fusing distinctly Filipino elements with
Western popular culture and icons in his latest show “Action
Figures” at the Blanc art space in Makati.
In this collection, a version of 70’s favorite
Japanese anime Voltes Five is seen with lines for its neck and arms,
relieving heat with a native fan or pamaypay made of anahaw leaves
in I’m Hot.
