Police hunting ‘lady-killer’

The Manila Police District is now conducting a manhunt for a “lady-killer” allegedly behind the death of two women under similar circumstances.

Last week, the burnt remains of a 60-year old woman was discovered in a hotel in Recto, and on Sunday, a body of another slain woman with a burnt face was found inside a hotel in Quiapo.

The latest victim was described by police as a 30-year old lady, slim built and long-haired.

Police described the male suspect as between 30 to 35 years old, 5’6 in height and medium built.

Police reports showed the latest victim and the suspect checked in at the Happy Hotel at 10 a.m. on  Saturday and paid for a 12-hour stay. The victim registered under the name of Marvin Cachola. At 7 a.m. on Sunday, the suspect then paid for an additional 12-hour stay.

Then at 4:45 p.m. of the same day, a parking attendant informed the hotel’s management that smoke was coming out from one their establishment’s rooms.

The door of the room where the smoke came from was forcibly opened and the cadaver of the victim was discovered, with her face partially burnt.

Police said the suspect in the latest murder case matched the description of the suspect of the earlier incident involving a 60-year-old woman.
