Yes, if you want to be really technical about it, they celebrate
their birthdays once every four years. The lifestyle staff searched
for celebrities who were born on February 29, and we found a couple
of interesting ones.
Freddie Santos is a theater director and actor.
“I’ll be 13 on Friday,” he tells us, quite thrilled. “On a
non-leap year, I always have two celebrations, one on the 28th and
the next one on March 1st,” he shares that he celebrates the first
one with his staff and people he works with and the second, with his
family.
“Being born on the 29th of February has never
been a hindrance or a source of shame,” he kids. Santos adds that
he also has a first cousin who was born on February 29. “It’s
always a double celebration!”
We spoke to aspiring actress Ina Feleo and
learned that her actor-dad, Johnny Delgado, was also born on
February 29. “My dad is a simple person and he doesn’t make a
big fuss out of anything. Well, I take that back, only on things
that pertain to acting,” she says, adding, “Being a leap year
baby doesn’t mean anything to him, I guess, perhaps he feels
special pa nga, this year, we might just go out and have dinner
since its his real birthday. Unlike in the past years, we celebrate
it either the day before or the day after. Wala naman siyang choice,
di ba? [He doesn’t have a choice, right?]”
We also learned that Doña Bea Zobel and
Hollywood actor Antonio Sabato Jr. are also leap year babies. Sabato
was born in Rome on February 29, 1972. To all leap year babies,
warmest wishes for the next four years!
