Nueva Vizcaya’s Rep. Carlos Padilla on
Thursday called the attention of the Supreme Court on a woman judge
in Batangas province who did a “sexy” pose in a Friendster
account on the Internet.
At a news forum, Padilla identified the judge as
Ma. Cecilia Austria of the Batangas Regional Trial Court, saying the
Supreme Court could draw an action parallel to that taken by the
Philippine National Police concerning a policewoman who reportedly
posed on the Internet with only a brassiere covering her.
Padilla said Judge Austria’s photographs
showed her in an off-shoulder blouse that may be inappropriate for
her profession as an officer of the court.
During the press conference, Padilla showed
reporters a picture of the 43-year-old judge, whom he also accused,
along with Court of Appeals Justice Sixto Marella, of conspiring
with two commercial banks to take over the Steel Corp. of the
Philippines.
Earlier, Padilla, in privilege speech, assailed
the planned takeover of a big steel company by two creditor-banks
that allegedly used the judiciary to ensure that majority control of
the Steel Corporation of the Philippines will be handed over to
creditors within the year.
He accused owners of Banco de Oro and its
sister-bank Equitable PCIBank, as conspiring with some members of
the judiciary to kick out Steel Corporation’s lawful owners.
The corporation has been placed under
receivership by the Batangas Regional Trial Court, specifically by
Austria, despite the company’s supposedly diligent payment of
interests to its creditors.
Padilla said the two banks have been influencing
both the lower court and the Court of Appeals to deny Steel
Corporation its much-needed rehabilitation in favor of a financial
and commercial behemoth that he accused of wanting a “naked
takeover” of the firm.
Padilla described as “tasteless” Austria’s
continued posting at Friendster of her suggestive photos.
