Price increases seen to accelerate

2008 agri goal set at record

THE government has set a record growth target
for the Philippine farm
sector this year. In a recent meeting of the National Economic and
Development Authority (NEDA) board, Agriculture Undersecretary
Jesus Emmanuel M. Paras said that a 6-percent to 7-percent expansion
this year is achievable. This is higher than last year’s target
range of 4.5 percent to 5 percent.
Agriculture Secretary Arthur C. Yap earlier said
that if the weather holds, the agency is comfortable with hitting
the target growth last year.
