2008: Wishing and getting it
|
|
BEING hopeful about 2008 and surviving the shock of price increases
are two things. A national poll survey says Filipinos are optimistic
about themselves in the new year. Optimism is a good attitude to
start the year with but, in practical terms, how will the people
cope with cost surges?
Spiraling oil prices around the world will be
the theme in 2008. The repercussions in the daily needs would be
considerable. The government should be able to help the poor—about
35 percent of the population—and the slim middle class.
