Amendments to Epira are priority

House seen to rush bill on Power Act along with 2008 budget bill already at bicameral level

The House of Representatives is gearing toward the approval of several priority measures when lawmakers resumed session on January 28, with amendments to the controversial Electric Power Industry Reform Act (Epira) among the items topping the agenda.

House Senior Deputy Majority Leader, Rep. Neptali Gonzales Jr., said the House should have approved the substituted House Bill 3124, which introduces several amendments to the Epira, at least on second reading last year. But this did not happened for lack of time.
