Sweet smell of success

“You don’t have to be Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Puff Daddy or Jennifer Lopez to put up your own perfume line,” says Joe Mari Quibilan who founded Scents and Blends almost 10 years ago.

Armed with a degree in chemistry from the De La Salle University, Quibilan had a brief stint as a teacher and a laboratory worker before starting Scents and Blends, a business he believes, befits his education perfectly. Indeed, Quibilan’s training as a chemist came in handy while doing research on perfume formulas. Despite initial obstacles, he installed his first kiosk at Festival Mall in Alabang in October 1999. “We wanted to give everyone comparably cheap perfumes that are highly affordable without sacrificing the quality,” he points out.

The company now has a wide array of product lines encompassing 120 fragrances and is actively developing new scents for infants, kids, teenagers, and adults.

“We dreamed of becoming a total fragrance company,” the young entrepreneur happily announces. Scents and Blends products are available at all leading Department Stores nationwide.
