SAN Juan Mayor Joseph Victor Ejercito on Thursday
said that he is still unsure of his political plans even if he
already hinted that he may make a run for the Senate if his
half-brother, Sen. Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, opts to run for a
higher post in 2010.
In a luncheon briefing with
media, Ejercito said that he has not yet sure if he will continue
with his original plan to run for a Senate or House seat.
“As of this time we have not
decided [on that]. I will consult the family and the opposition, and
I have to wait for the decision of the United Opposition on what
their plans are for 2010,” Ejercito said.
Ejercito said that he will have
to wait first on the decision of Senator Estrada if he will run for
another post other than the senator.
Senator Estrada was earlier said
to be seeking the vice-presidential post. Ejercito said that it will
be hard for that two of the former President’s sons seek a similar
position.
He said that if Senator Estrada
opts to seek for reelection, then he would seek a House seat.
Asked for the possibility of a
mother and son tandem in San Juan where it is widely rumored that
his mother, former actress Guia Gomez, is being considered to
replace him since he is no longer eligible, JV simply said “if
that is what the people wants.”
