Education Assistant Secretary Jesus Mateo, who is the director of
the CyberEd Project, gave the following brief comment on this Times
special report on the roundtable.
There is no done deal yet on the CyberEd
Project.
The project is now in the hands of the
Presidential Task Force on Education (headed by Fr. Bienvenido
Nebres, president, Ateneo de Manila University), particularly the
Ateneo’s IT group, for independent evaluation on technology,
scale, (e.g. piloting), costs, etc.
The Department of Education is open to any
convergence plans acceptable to stakeholders. The main concern of
the department is that the RP educational system catches up with the
universal benefits of IT integration into education.
