CONSTRUCTION MAGNATE Reghis Romero finished third in
the recent BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) Ironman
Challenge, an endurance race from Manila to Clark.
Romero, board chairman of R-II
Builders Group of Companies, used his BMW K1200 to complete the
annual endurance race in a little over 13 hours.
Joey Almeda won the race for the
third straight year while Rey Relativo settled for second.
“It was really satisfying
because all my preparations and hard work paid off after topping the
Sports Touring Section,” said the 57-year-old Romero, a motorcyle
enthusiast for three decades.
“Finishing third overall was
also a big accomplishment considering it was my first time to join
the race and the number of participants I had to deal with,” he
added.
Romero lauded the organizers of
the race sponsored by Petron, Globe Platinum and BMW Philippines. He
even encou-raged other motor-cycle organizations to join them, if
not stage their own activities since it is one way of promoting
safety awareness, especially for young riders.
“All motorcycle en-thusiasts,
young and old, should use the proper safety gears while riding.
Safety is very important in this kind of sport,” the father of
Harbour Centre owner Mikee Romero said.
