THE Philippine Amateur Sepak
Takraw Association will send its men’s and women’s teams in the
first Asian Beach Games slated October 18 to 26 in Bali, Indonesia.
PASTA President Mario Tanchanco
said both teams are gearing up for the tough challenge ahead.
“Our teams will be ready for
battle. We will be pitted against 45 countries and we’re excited
about it since we have been consistent podium finishers in Asian
meets,” Tanchanco said.
The men’s hoop team composed of
Rodolfo Eco, Hector Mamarion, Joel Carbonilla, Motodio Suico,
Harrison Castañares, Junmar Aleta, Larry Dalope and Jessel Yau
accounted bagged the bronze medal in the 2nd Asian Indoor Games held
in Macau, China last year.
The same men’s team scored 600
points to finish third in the 2007 Thailand SEAG behind Thailand
(930 points) and Myanmar (760 points).
The women’s team of Irene Apdon,
Deseree Autor and Sarah Jane Catain also captured the regu and
doubles bronze medals in the SEAG.
“We have to practice more so
that our previous efforts won’t go to waste,” Tanchanco added.
