Proposal by Sen. Roxas will only benefit rich people
– IMF
|

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned
that lifting the 12-percent value-added tax on oil products will
give investors a negative impression of the Philippines.
Also, the suspension is likely to benefit the
rich and hurt the poor, who benefit from social programs funded by
VAT, Reza Baqir, IMF resident representative in the Philippines,
said during a press briefing late Friday.
