THE grand draw of the Soroptimist International of
the Philippines Region Annual Dream Raffle was held at Gov.
Linabelle Villarica’s residence in Corinthian Gardens, Quezon
City. The long wait was over, the selling of tickets done and
Soroptimists members beam with pride and happiness with the fruits
of their labor.
Aside from the winners of major
prizes ranging from P50,000 to P150,000, there were 20 winners who
won the consolation prizes of P5,000 each. Others also won home
appliances such as refrigerator, television, washing machine and
microwave oven.
Also, on this occasion, the
winners for both the Laurel Society and Sampaguita Society Bingo
board were drawn. Thelma Watanabe of SI Metro Bago became a Laurel
Society Attache member and Araceli Mirano of SI Bacolod, a
Sampaguita Society Donor member. Immediately after the grand draw,
the Christmas party followed. Soroptimists from clubs as far as
Rizal and Bataan came to grace the party. Other clubs outside Metro
Manila were represented by districts directors from Mindanao and
Visayas who were in town for the second SIPR board meeting.
Soroptimists donned their
favorite headgears and hats. One of the party’s highlights was the
“Best Headgear” contest won by governor-elect Mimi Flor. The
Most Elegant Headgear went to Gina Pateña of SI San Jose del Monte
II and President Anna Lagman of SI EDSA Villagers, the Most
Christmassy Headgear, President Suzie Pizarro of SI Bataan, the Most
Original/Innovative Headgear, and Public Awareness Chairman Cherry
Tumaneng, the Best Headgear.
Other highlights included the
Soroptimist Swingers’ 70s dance presentation, Soroptimist
Singers’ singing Christmas carols, and the special raffle by
Governor Villarica who also hosted the party. Of course, the event
was capped by ballroom dancing. This club isn’t only about going
all out on their civic projects but also really knows how to party.
