Special report and editorial on
seniors
We hope your readers will heed
the call you made in your editorials “Help the senior-citizen
poor” and “Be a fool for Christ” (January 14). And thank you
also for the special report “Senior Citizens: Devalued,
humiliated” (January 13).
I am a retired OFW. Daily, my
wife and have been depleting our savings from which we earn interest
income of less than P60,000 a year.
Some restaurants have humiliated
us while refusing to give us the legally-required discount because
it is a public holiday or a Sunday. We can tell you horror stories
about how we who are old and lacking money have been treated badly
by our so-called Christian fellow Filipinos.
