To Davos with four pieces of baggage
|
|
The President seems to be set to attend, as she did last year, the
World Economic Forum Annual Meeting on January 23 to 27 in Davos,
Switzerland. The WEF is an assemblage of the world’s most
high-powered leaders.
This year’s co-chairmen include Tony Blair,
Henry Kissinger and as always some of the globe’s topmost policy
brains and governmental and corporate achievers. US State Department
Secretary Condeleezza Rice will open the meeting. Several heads of
government, institutions and corporations will be there. The theme
this year is “The Power of Collaborative Innovation.”

The logical
invalidity of the 1987 Constitution
|
|
THE issue as to whether the 1987 Constitution allows former
President Joseph Estrada to run for re-election has brought public
attention to Article XVIII, Section 5, which cunningly but
unwittingly insinuates that former President Corazon C. Aquino was
an elected President.

An open letter to the

DEAR whoever cares out there: Perhaps it’s just plain old thrill
that drove them to kill. You would be surprised many of them would
innocently say so. Not just hunters from the Bacolod Air Rifle
Hunting Club.

The parenthesis and its uses-II

IN last Saturday’s column, I pointed out that if we substitute a
generic noun for a proper noun that’s being modified by a
nonrestrictive relative clause, the pair of commas enclosing that
clause would be rendered unnecessary.
