The new adobo masters

The ABE Computer School in Legarda, Manila, carved a niché for themselves in the culinary arts when it bested 24 other competitors in the 1st Las Haciendas Communities National Adobo Cooking Contest held in Batangas recently.

Paul Jordan Bautista of ABE Computer College was also named Adobo Grand Master when his own Roasted Pork Adobo proved to be the most delectable and exquisite of adobo among 25 contenders.

Bautista who is in his third year as a culinary art students of ABE said he is very proud of his achievements and lauded Las Haciendas at the same time for coming up with such an original competition that did not only bring out the best in all the other contestants but also a sense of pride for the fine culinary tradition of the country.

The Adobo championships was organized by Las Haciendas Community, a prime development of Phoenix Land Inc. in Laurel, Batangas, just minutes away from Metro Tagaytay. Cosponsoring the event are McCormick, Petron Gasul and Silver Swan who provided the materials and equipment needed for the cook-off.

“This is definitely going to be a yearly event. We promise you a bigger crowd and more sizzling categories next year. We are even planning on having a cook off for our lolo and lola, just for them. We can encourage them to dig up their most treasured secret ingredient and cook for us,” concluded Donny Pile, president and CEO of Phoenix Land Inc.

With the competition’s vast success, Las Haciendas, the home of the best adobos, promises to continue to inspire students and everyone in keeping the culinary traditions and cultural heritage of the country.

“I’m very honored and joyful at the same time that my Pork Adobo with Ginger Sauce was chosen the best among the rest. I’m sure our school will have something to be proud of as well,” Bautista exclaimed.
