IT Won’t Be Soon Before Long is the title of the latest CD of the
popular group Maroon 5 and it speaks volumes. Quite literally, it
won’t be long before Maroon 5 comes to Manila for a concert. In
fact, the plan has been laid out and the date and venue have been
chosen: March 5 at the Araneta Coliseum.
The new CD is a wonderful follow-up to their
last CD Songs About Jane, which catapulted the group to five-star
status in the who’s who of the music business. This new album
debuted at the top spot of the Billboard Hot 200 charts with a
record-breaking sales of half a million copies on its first week of
release.
The band’s big hits like “She Will Be
Loved” and “This Love” will definitely be part of the
group’s repertoire. The five members are still together, enjoying
the fruits of their love and labor. Adam Levine, James Valentine,
Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden and Matt Flynn have sent word that
they are excited to perform in Manila. Levine in particular, has
heard about the high level of musicality that Filipinos are blessed
with and he says he can’t wait to be in Manila. “I’ve heard so
much about the Philippines, the beautiful islands and the beautiful
girls. And I also heard that everybody can sing in your country,”
he enthuses.
Incidentally, Songs About Jane contained a
number of tracks about Levine’s tumultuous relationship with his
ex-girlfriend Jane and the CD harvested triple platinum awards
across the globe. The group has spent two years touring the major
music capitals of the world, after which they concentrated on the
recording of their latest CD.
Maroon 5 formally joined the ranks of music
heavyweights when the Los Angeles-based band received a Grammy for
Best New Artist. The group’s second Grammy award came by way of
the big hit titled “This Love,” which also became a big hit in
the Philippines.
