NEW YORK: Kendrick Perkins scored a career-best 24 points to lead
the Boston Celtics past New York 109-93 Monday as the National
Basketball Association’s top club won a third game in a row after
a mild slump.
Boston’s Kevin Garnett added 20 points and 12
rebounds while Ray Allen contributed 17 points for the Celtics, who
have bounced back after a 1-3 slide to stand at a league-best 33-6,
five games better than East rival Detroit.
Rajon Rondo added 14 points for Boston while the
Celtics’ Paul Pierce had 10 points before being ejected late in
the third quarter after an altercation with New York’s Quentin
Richardson.
Perkins scored all but two of his points in the
first half, sparking a run of 11 points in a row to end the first
half that gave Boston a 59-45 lead.
Zach Randolph led New York with 24 points.
