DINALUPIHAN, Bataan: Three Aetas died at dawn on Wednesday while 11 others who were about to attend a fiesta were seriously wounded when a passenger jeepney they were riding had a head-on collision with a Federal Express trailer truck in Barangay Roosevelt, Dinalupihan town.

The Fedex truck driver Danny Baja of Caloocan City, Metro Manila said they were coming from their Subic Bay Freeport office, bound for Manila when the accident happened.

Edward Bayan of Capas, Tarlac; driver of the passenger jeepney with plate no. CXC 300, was wounded and confined at the James Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City.

PO2 Dennis Abad, Dinalupihan police investigator, identified the fatalities as Albina Bruno, Consolacion Morales and Ofelia Canonisado. Bruno was declared dead on arrival at the Jose Payumo Memorial Hospital in Dinalupihan while Morales passed away at 7:15 a.m. at the same hospital.

The remains of the two victims were brought to the nearby Ventura Funeral Homes in Dinalupihan.

Canonisado was rushed to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City but later died while undergoing treatment.

In critical condition with injuries on their head and other parts of the body are Lanie de la Cruz, Ana May de la Cruz, Carlito de la Cruz, Olive Canonisado, Dorie Morales, Matet Evangelista, Irene Morales, Lotsie Morales, Michelle Evangelista and Rolando Evangelista.

Three of those injured are children aged one to three years old. All the fatalities were members of the Aeta tribe from Sta. Juliana, Capas in Tarlac and so were the wounded.

Police said three of those injured were left at the Dinalupihan hospital while seven were transferred to the Olongapo City hospital. A police investigator said the three would also be transferred to the James Gordon Memorial Hospital.
