THE signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between
the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympian
Association highlights the sports agency’s 18th-year celebration
Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex.
Fr. Vic Uy, the PSC executive
director, said the MOA will enable former Olympians to avail of free
medicines and services from the Philippine Center for Sports
Medicine.
“The MOA is about the
nonmonetary assistance of the PSC for the country’s former
Olympians. They can avail of the medical services offered by PCSM,”
Uy explained.
PSC Chairman William Ramirez and
POA President Art Macapagal will sign the MOA.
Uy, a former rector and
vice-president for finance of University of San Carlos, said the PSC
is gearing towards bagging the country’s first gold in the coming
Olympic Games in Beijing.
“The PSC has been wishing for
that [gold] even before. But it’s still in the hands of the
National Sports Associations. They can determine if they can bag it
or not,” he added.
