Radioman and rider Gerry Cornejo spreads |
|
The gospel of
public safety |
|
By Perry Gil S. Mallari
GERARDO “GERRY” CORNEJO is a
man who seems to be all for fun. He rides a slick motorbike and gets
his kicks from playing the drums and guitar on impromptu jam
sessions with the likes of rock icon Pepe Smith. But people close to
Cornejo know him as a man of deep conviction.
An active advocate of public
safety, he is one of the founding directors of the Framework
Convention on Tobacco Control Alliance Philippines (FCAP) and the
director for media of the Motorcycle Philippines Federation (MCPF).
Cornejo also hosts a daily radio program dubbed KKK (Kalusugan
[health], Kaalaman [knowledge] at Katuwaan [fun]), that bagged the
Most Outstanding Radio Program (AM) award of the Consumers Union of
the Philippines for three consecutive years from 2003 to 2005.
