Acer tops overall client PC
market in the Philippines

ACER once again proved its stature as one of the most favored computer brands in the country as it again posted impressive numbers in the latest rankings released by leading IT market research and advisory firm IDC.

Based on the latest results of the IDC Asia/Pacific Quarterly PC Tracker for 3Q07, Acer is the number one brand in the overall client PC market in the Philippines, plus pole positions in the overall notebook and consumer desktop markets as well.

In the overall client PC rankings, Acer regained the top slot for the third quarter (July to September 2007) with a total of 35,170 units sold for a 13.9-percent share compared to its nearest competitor, who sold 32,934 units and a close 13-percent share of the market. In the previous quarter, Acer sold only 15,374 units and a 7.1-percent share, placing it in the second position.

This quarter’s performance by Acer once again proved that its efforts in building its market in the Philippines is on the right track. In coming up with more innovative products, coupled with consistent and efficient customer service efforts, Acer is working close toward its goal of capturing the attention of Filipino computer users.

In the overall notebook computer category, Acer kept its lead, selling a total of 23,200 units for a 35.6-percent market share in 3Q07, which was an improvement from 2Q07 where Acer sold only 10,265 units, posting a 27.5-percent share. Its closest competitor managed to sell only 13,696 units of its products for a 21-percent share in 3Q07.

For the consumer desktop category, Acer regained top position by selling 6,053 desktop units in the third quarter for an 11.5-percent market share compared to its second-quarter performance, selling 1,849 units for a 3.9-percent share.
