LEGAZPI CITY: The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology
(Phivolcs) in Bicol said Mount Mayon is exhibiting an increase in
crater glow, with ground deformation and tremors that indicate a
build up of magma suggesting possible explosion. Ed Laguerta,
Phivolcs chief in Bicol told The Manila Times that the volcano has
been observed with this behavior since March, and people need to
prepare. “There is a probability the increase in abnormalities are
early warnings as we don’t discount the possibility of a major
eruption,” said Ed Laguerta, Phivolcs chief in Bicol.
