Thomasites’ Park all set at Teachers Camp

BAGUIO CITY: US Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Thomasites’ Park on Saturday, July 5 at the Baguio Teacher’s Camp honoring the contribution of the early American teachers to the Philippine’s public education system. The unveiling of the park design is part of a series of events commemorating the centennial of the Teachers’ Camp in Baguio City.

Prior to the unveiling, there will be a reenactment of the First Day of the Thomasites at the camp’s amphitheater and Ambassador Kenney will give short remarks, followed by a guided tour of the camp museum which will receive three historic pictures of the Thomasites from the collection of the US Embassy.

As part of her two-day visit, Ambassador Kenney will also meet with Philippine Military Academy alumni who are recent graduates of US military academy programs, travel to the University of the Cordilleras and the St. Louis University, and meet with Peace Corps volunteers in the area.
