One of the best point guards in the National Basketball Association
(NBA), Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards, hits town July 5 to
8 for the adidas Agent Zero Tour 2008. His jampacked calendar
includes meeting his countless basketball fans through mall tours,
community events and a special appearance in one of the most
celebrated games in the history of the University Athletic
Association of the Philippines, the first Ateneo-La Salle showdown
at the Araneta Coliseum. Conveniently, both the Blue Eagles and the
Green Archers are adidas teams.
Arenas will also be here to promote his Gil Zero
II footwear collection. Each shoe in the collection tells a story in
the mind of Gilbert Arenas. The Black President is a black shoe with
pinstripe pattern with the words “In Gilbert We Trust” on the
strap, with “The Black House” pictured in the liner and a heel
that features the Black President Seal.
The Benihana “Hibachi” is a name creatively
devised by Gil Arenas in collaboration with Benihana, one of his
favorite restaurants. Move out of his way once you hear him yell
“Hibachi!” or he’ll make a grilled chicken out of you on
court.
The “Vote for Gilbert” speaks for itself in
brushed gold and matte black suede, this shoe is fit for every MVP.
The NBA Live 2008 with the words “Cover Boy” graced atop the
shoe commemorates Gil Arenas appearing in a magazine. Channel Zero
marks his appearances in television. “Customize,” an all-white
leather shoe, comes with a dry erase marker that lets you customize
your style and comes with Gil’s self-portrait on the heel from his
“Impossible is Nothing” TV spot.
The “Gilwood” shows Gil Arenas’ West Coast
background. Having been raised in North Hollywood this shoe reads
“California King.” The all-black leather shoe designed for the
original East Coast assassin, which he called “Agent Zero”
features a liner of the map of Washington D.C. Gilbert Arenas also
comes in Looney Tunes specials Tweety and Bugs Bunny, created for
his son Alijah Amani Arenas.
Arenas has scheduled visits at various adidas
concept stores on July 6 such as Mall of Asia, Rockwell and TriNoma.
This will be followed by the Agent Zero Tour 2008 statement show at
the TriNoma Activity Center where fans and sports buffs alike can
have a once-in-a-lifetime experience to meet and greet Gilbert
Arenas. Guests will enjoy the activities surrounding the venue and
may just get lucky by winning the chance to have their Gil Zero
jerseys autographed through the Agent Zero raffle promo.
Arenas is the only player who wears the “0”
Jersey in the NBA, a number which had been a mark of the player
since he was criticized in high school and was told that he would
only play zero minutes of a game in college. Today, this blazing
agent has become an MVP of the rookies-sophomores game during the
All-Star Weekend in 2003, and a bona fide basketball star.
Now, that’s what Arenas means when he says:
Zero to Hero!
