Barangay Ginebra keeps semis bid alive

BARANGAY GINEBRA stayed in the hunt for an outright semis berth after posting a 111-96 win over Welcoat Friday in the 2008 Smart-PBA Fiesta Conference at the Araneta Coliseum.

Marc Caguioa scored seven points in a 14-2 run as the Gin Kings doused cold water in the Dragons surge en route to posting their ninth win in 17 outings.

Caguioa topscored for the Kings with 26 points, including 16 in the second half, followed by Ronald Tubid with 24 points and Chris Alexander with 20 points.

Import Marquis Gainous finished with 14 points for Welcoat, which ended the double-round elims at 4-14.

But Ginebra’s victory will become useless if Red Bull wins its game against Talk ‘N Text. The Barakos and the Phone Pals were playing at press time.

Red Bull needs to win of its last two assignments to formalize their entry in the semis.
