Filipinos traveling to Romania are advised to
procure appropriate visas from the Romanian Embassy in Manila.
The Department of Foreign Affairs has issued an
advisory for Filipinos hoping to travel to the European Country of
Romania to procure their visas directly from the Romanian Embassy.
Romania is a member of the European Union, but
is not a party to the Schengen Visa Agreement that allows travelers
to move from country to country in the European Union using only the
Schengen Visa.
The Schengen Agreement abolished the systems of
border controls among its signatories allowing tourists or visitors
to travel freely within the member countries.
Those traveling to Romania for tourism purposes
must still apply for a short stay (tourist) visa.
The Romanian Ministry of Interior and
Administrative Reforms emphasizes that holders of short-stay visas
cannot seek employment in Romania.
Short stay visa is based on only on special
invitation that does not permit subsequent prolongation of the right
to stay in Romania.
