Amid a growing consciousness for environmental sustainability, BCI
Asia, the leading provider of construction information in
Asia-Pacific in cooperation with Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines
Inc., hosted the FuturArc green building forum with experts from
around the world calling for action on sustainability. A dinner was
held after the forum to recognize the 10 most active architectural
firms in the Philippines at the Renaissance Hotel in Makati. The
winners, in alphabetical order, were AIDEA, Philippines Inc., ASYA
Design Partner (Albert S. Yu and Associates), GF & Partners
Architects + Engineers, Project Development Consultants, Palafox
Associates, Pimentel Rodriguez Simbulan and Partners (PRSP), R.
Villarosa Architects, Recio + Casas Architects, Robert Carag Ong and
Associates and WV Coscolluela & Associates. “The agenda is to
recognize architectural firms making the greatest impact on the
built environment through sheer volume and to enable them to
exchange ideas and build practice with local and international
peers,” said Mathias Krups, chairman BCI Group. The current
concept of green coatings, as currently defined by international
eco-labeling standards around the world, has focused primarily on
minimizing paint’s negative effect on the environment,
particularly on lowering volatile organic compounds solvents that
evaporate into the air as the paint dries. Ruben Cueto, marketing
manager of Boysen Philippines, said, “Green architecture needs
green coatings to work, and green coatings need green architects who
use them to prosper, and we hope that in the coming years we can
work together to paint the town, and our country, green. We at
Boysen find the green architecture movement a very relevant one
today.” For more information about the latest green paint
