FRESH from his smashing ninth round victory over
David Diaz, Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao will hold a charity
golf tournament on August 8 at the Valley Golf and Country Club in
Antipolo.
The proceeds of the tournament
will go to the victims of Typhoon Frank.
In his post-fight press
conference at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Pacquiao thanked
his countrymen for their support and prayers.
Pacquaio, who arrived Friday,
said that helping the typhoon victims would be his top priority and
the first event he is holding in support of that cause is the
charity tournament.
The newly-crowned WBC Lightweight
champ who is also the first Asian boxer to reign over four
divisions, urged advertisers, politicians, philanthropists, and
statesmen to join in his effort to help rebuild the country after
the typhoon by donating and sponsoring the event.
The tournament, which will follow
a 36 scoring system, will have competitions in the men’s A, B, C
and ladies’ divisions. Tee off time is 8 a.m.
