Some notorious criminals have to learn their lessons the hard way,
as two hold-up men were mauled by passengers of a jeepney they
robbed before they were arrested by the operatives of the Manila
Police District (MPD).
The suspects, currently under the custody of the
MPD-District Mobile Patrol Unit, were identified as Reynaldo
Hipolito, 33, a member of Batang City
Jail gang and a native of Nueva Ecija, and
Victor Lawas, 27.
They were arrested after one of the victims, a
student of the Medical Technologies of Jose Reyes Memorial
Medical Center, was alert enough to seek for
immediate police help.
PO3 Hanzel Dineros reported that the incident
took place at around 1:30 p.m. at the Quezon Blvd. underpass in Sta.
Cruz, Manila.
The student was in a passenger jeepney heading
for the direction of Sampaloc when the suspects pulled out a knife
and declared a hold up.
The passengers were forced to give their money
and jewelries when the alert student got off the jeep and
immediately called the help of a mobile patrol.
The suspects tried to escape but they were
mauled by the passengers they robbed.
Ironically, not one of the passengers’
possessions were recovered from the suspects.
