Blazers try to bounce back

THE St. Benilde Blazers will try to get back on the winning track when they face last year’s semifinalist Jose Rizal Bombers Sunday in the 84th NCAA basketball tournament at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Opening day losers Mapua Cardinals and Philippine Christian Dolphins will cross path in the other game.

Coach Gee Abanila, who took over the Blazers bench only four months ago, said that his team remains in high spirits despite losing to the Knights, 75-88, last Friday.

The Blazers surprised many when they won their first two games following a 69-65 win over the Dolphins on June 28 and a 61-54 triumph over the Perpetual Help Altas on July 2.

“A win is a win no matter how you will take it. It’s not surprising because I know from the start that the team has a lot of potentials,” said Abanilla.
