HTC sparkles with Diamond

High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), a Taiwan-based smartphones manufacturer, has recently launched in the Philippines its new flagship phone, the HTC Touch Diamond.

This high-end smartphone, which will be available later this month, is HTC’s new addition to its family of devices since it started in 1997.

The Touch Diamond, offers a unique design, innovative user interface and notable facets.

Features included among others: a 7.2 Mbps HSDPA device, powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with 2.8-inch touch screen; a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus and a 4GB internal storage. With its sleek design and glossy black color, Touch Diamond measures 102 by 51 by 11.35mm and weighs 110 grams (with battery).

In addition, the Windows Mobile-based phone also integrated three-dimensional touch interface, an upgraded TouchFLO.

Dubbed as TouchFLO 3D, the technology features cool animations to access contacts, messaging, photos, music, e-mail, weather and more.

It “enhances the viewing experience” of the user said Melvin Chua, product marketing manager of HTC for Southeast Asia. It also offers a new touch-sensitive control for device interaction.

Besides its customized mobile web browser for easy viewing and navigation of websites, smartphone is also coupled with a YouTube application, customized and designed by HTC.

In Southeast Asia, HTC has reached 197-percent increase in sales from 2006 to 2007, said Kevin Hou, managing director of HTC for Southeast Asia. In the Philippines, “the market of [the company] has become bigger” since it was introduced in the country last year, he said.
