Former hostage-taker Armando Ducat Jr. on Monday received a warm
welcome from his ex-victims and their parents when he visited his
day-care center in Tondo, Manila.
Radio reports said that Ducat received a star
treatment when he arrived at the Musmos Day Care Center in Parola
Compound, Tondo. His visit was allowed by a Manila court after he
filed his “extreme urgent ex parte motion” to visit the
facility.
Ducat, 58, sporting shoulder-length hair during
his daycare visit, asked the security personnel to remove his
handcuffs while he addressed the children at his day-care center.
He admitted that he still feels sore at the
government, which pursued serious illegal detention case against him
even if the parents of the children he took hostage sided with him.
In March 2007, Ducat took a bus loaded with
students from his day-care center and staged a hostage drama in
Manila. He took the opportunity to score corruption in government.
He eventually yielded to authorities in the
evening, even as the schoolchildren and parents said they are not
keen on filing charges against him.
