More SUV than a crossover vehicle, the new Subaru
Forester retains comfort, utility and all-wheel drive capability in
a more stylish package
IN mid-May, Singapore-based Subaru distributor Motor Image, which
sells the brand in eight Asian countries, launched the new
third-generation Forester in the city-state. On July 2, this award
winning “crossover sport-utility vehicle,” as Subaru calls it,
made its Philippine debut as Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP) unveiled it
to the local market.
Fresh from a complete redesign, MIP said the new
Forester boasts of a bolder and sleeker design while retaining all
the features that have allowed its predecessors to garner
international acclaim. Improvements in design and comfort have
resulted in a far more luxurious drive while exacting demands on
safety, quality and capability have made the new Forester the
epitome of form and function, MIP said in a statement.
For the family man or soccer mom, Kia brings out the
fast and frugal Carens LX CRDi
SLEEK nor sexy it ain’t. But seven-seat
functional and frugal with valuable fuel it is. Which all comes as
no big surprise—the Kia Carens in LX CRDi guise is, after all, a
big station wagon (or small minivan, depending at the way one looks
at it) and runs on less precious diesel power.
WASHINGTON: Carmakers hit more bumps in the road
in June as US sales fell precipitously, and manufacturers failed to
adapt to a shift in demand to more fuel-efficient cars, company
reports showed on July 1.
Petron Corp. recently said it has launched the
new Petron E10 Premium, a specially formulated unleaded gasoline
that meets and exceeds the requirements of the Philippine Biofuels
Law.
LAST week, I found myself sitting through a most amusing meeting.
You see, the company I work for had been wisely introducing
cost-cutting measures on an almost weekly basis in the wake of
escalating fuel costs.
