CLARK FREEPORT: President Gloria Arroyo has appointed one of the
Clark Development Corp.’s (CDC) pioneer directors as the new CDC
chief.
Mrs. Arroyo appointed longtime CDC Director
Benigno N. Ricafort as the new CDC president and chief executive
officer, said Subic Clark Alliance for Development Council Chairman
Edgardo Pamintuan during the forum on the Subic Clark Alliance for
Development Mega Logistics Hub held here.
Pamintuan said the President announced
Ricafort’s appointment during a meeting with local and Palace
officials during her visit to Angeles City Thursday.
Ricafort, who earned his master’s degree in
Business Administration major in Economics at St. John’s
University in New York, will replace outgoing CDC President Levy
Laus, who held office at the state-owned corporation from October 1,
2006 to July 30 of this year.
Born on March 28, 1938, Ricafort was appointed
as member of the CDC Board of Directors in 1992 during the term of
former President Fidel V. Ramos.
With a 15-year significant track record at the
CDC Board, Ricarfort has served the government from the inception of
the CDC and continuous liaison with the Bases Conversion and
Development Authority.
His stint as CDC director spans seven CDC
Presidents the state-owned corporation was started, from Antonio
Henson, Romeo David, Rufo Colayco, Sergio Naguiat, Emmanuel Angeles,
Antonio Ng and Levy Laus.
He is also a recipient of numerous
awards—among them are the Department of Trade and Industry’s
Golden Shell Award in 1988; Most Outstanding Kapampangan, 1990; Most
Outstanding Jaycee President of the World, 1977; and San Beda
College Most Outstanding Alumnus, 1978.
Ricafort is married to the former Nona Rojas
Saldana. Both are blessed with two children Raymond and Ma. Monica,
who are both entrepreneurs.
