MAP helps shape future leaders
through inspiring stories

The Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) recently launched its latest sponsored book, EXTRAORDINARY: Stories for Aspiring Leaders.

In their own words, 51 of the country’s business and industry leaders relate what they feel are the qualities and values that shaped them as individuals and as leaders of the country’s top business organizations. Written for the young and aspiring leaders of today, the book features the life stories and lessons of 51 leaders around seven leadership themes and qualities: Inspiring Confidence and Belief in the Future, A Passion for Results, Managing in Uncertain Times, Marked by Unwavering Integrity, Strong Egos, Courage to Make Tough Decisions, and Setting Others Up for Success. These extraordinary men and women agreed to share their stories because they want the youth to know that leadership, like all real successes in life, do not come easy and require hard work and determination.

They are: Eugenia Apostol; David Balangue; Cesar Bautista; Ceasr Buenaventura; Rafael Buenaventura; Edgar Chua; Jose Ma. Concepcion 3rd; Raul Concepcion; David Consunji; Jose Cuisia Jr.; Ramon del Rosario Jr.; Ramon del Rosario Sr.; Corazon dela Paz-Bernardo; Rex Drilon 2nd; Carlos Ejercito; Jesus Estanislao; Lance Gokongwei; Atty. Virata; George Yang; Alfonso Yuchengco, and Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala 2nd.

Initiated in 2006 by Evelyn Singson, then MAP president, the idea of this book easily gained the support of the association’s Committee on Publications.

The Philippine office of global consulting firm Development Dimensions International under the leadership of Victor Magdaraog offered the services of his young, dynamic and hard- working writers to make sure that the storytelling approach will appeal to the taste of young, aspiring leaders.

“Now, 30 or so months later, we have finally put the book to bed and we offer it to all young and aspiring Filipinos who we hope will be inspired to invest their life and work for a better future and for their own extraordinary brand of leadership for generations to come,” said Singson.

(EXTRAORDINARY: Stories for Aspiring Leaders is available at all National Bookstores nationwide or call MAP at 751-1149 to 52.)
