IN celebration of the 30th National Disability Prevention and
Rehabilitation Week, a wheelchair race sponsored by dietary food
supplement Power Joints will be held on July 20 at the Quezon
Memorial Circle.
A total of 30 participants, 15 men and 15 women,
from Tahanang Walang Hagdan and institutions for persons with
disabilities in Quezon City and the Quezon City Social Services are
joining the 3-km and 5-km competitions.
The top three winners in each division will
receive P10,000 (first), P5,000 (second) and P3,000 (third) plus
trophies while the other finishers get P500.
Singer and medical practitioner Nonoy Zuniga,
who recommends Power Joints as a preventive measure for
osteoarthritis and for the maintenance of healthy joints and
cartilages, is organizing the wheelchair race in cooperation with
the National Council for Disability Affairs.
Zuniga, a victim of a bomb blast during the
martial law years, will join Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon
City during the opening ceremony at 6 a.m.
