Power Joints wheelchair race

IN celebration of the 30th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week, a wheelchair race sponsored by dietary food supplement Power Joints will be held on July 20 at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

A total of 30 participants, 15 men and 15 women, from Tahanang Walang Hagdan and institutions for persons with disabilities in Quezon City and the Quezon City Social Services are joining the 3-km and 5-km competitions.

The top three winners in each division will receive P10,000 (first), P5,000 (second) and P3,000 (third) plus trophies while the other finishers get P500.

Singer and medical practitioner Nonoy Zuniga, who recommends Power Joints as a preventive measure for osteoarthritis and for the maintenance of healthy joints and cartilages, is organizing the wheelchair race in cooperation with the National Council for Disability Affairs.

Zuniga, a victim of a bomb blast during the martial law years, will join Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista of Quezon City during the opening ceremony at 6 a.m.
