The Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, Inc. (IWCPI) and the Inner
Wheel Clubs of the Philippines Foundation, Inc. (IWCPFI) will hold
their induction ceremonies today, July 13, 9 a.m., at the Mandarin
Hotel in Makati City.
Inner Wheel Club is an international
organization based in Manchester, England. As one of the largest
women’s voluntary service organizations in the world, the Inner
Wheel Club holds a non-governmental organization (NGO) status with
the United Nations.
Now with more than 100,000 members in over 101
countries—a far cry from its humble beginnings in 1924—the civic
organization continues to uphold their vision. This vision, handed
down to the members by founder Margaret Golding, is about women
coming together in true friendship to personally serve their
community and develop international understanding.
In the Philippines, the Inner Wheel Club has
eight districts with a district chairman each. Around 80 percent of
the members are spouses of Rotarians, while the other 20 percent are
lady Rotarians, daughters, sisters, or mothers of Rotarians.
In the induction ceremonies slated today, PDG
Alex Huang, chairman of the Philippine College of Rotary Governors,
will be the guest speaker. Meanwhile, past international president
Esther Vibal will be the inducting officer.
To be inducted as the IWCPI national president
for the year 2008 to 2009 is Victorina “Vicky” Magadia. Vicky is
the charter president of the Inner Wheel Club of Makati North in
District 381. In the 10 years of her membership in Inner Wheel, she
has served consistently and with dedication in different
club/district/committees.
Vicky’s home club is a partner in service of
the Rotary Club of Makati North of District 3830, consistent with
her active support of Rotary’s activities. She was likewise
awarded her first Rotary Paul Harris fellow/pin for her exemplary
participation in the projects of the Rotary Club of Makati North
long before she became a member of Inner Wheel.
