Jobert Abiva runs a publishing company. His work may revolve around
stock papers, automation systems and quotations but he fulfills his
life with colors beyond those found in the printing press. Besides
doing charity works, pottery, and painting, he is keenly interested
in traveling to places, here and abroad that enhance his
appreciation for nature. In fact, it was through his participation
in several of Haribon Foundation’s field exposures that he became
a member. Through visiting different provinces in the Philippines,
he has come to know more about the environment and ecotourism.
“Through eco-journalism as well as
photography, I help raise the social awareness of people such as
travelers.”
Because our country has beautiful tourist
destinations, Abiva is referring to the fact that our country
doesn’t simply just want tourists but responsible travelers who
will realize that the natural beauty of our country is being
depleted at an alarming rate, and if conservation actions are not
taken into account, tourism will suffer.
“Our land, air and water may seem basic. But
this is the very reason why humanity, as a whole, must acknowledge
how integral they are for all living things to remain alive.
Hopefully, soon, all economic activities we do would be in oneness
in protecting nature. Our country could contribute much to this
endeavor internationally.”
Indeed, Jobert Abiva, is someone for whom nature
will continue to be an inspiration; and its protection a story and
humanity a part in it. For him, this will continue to be a deep
impulse to tell to others. It just needs to be. It is here and now.
