Five of the nine foreign coaches drawing salaries from the
Philippine Sports Commission have expiring contracts this year.
Chinese Tong Wei, who was tapped by the fencing
association on July 24 last year, will end his term on July 31.
He’s receiving $1,800 a month and stays at the Philsports Sports
Complex in Pasig City.
Korean tae kwon do mentor Kim Hong Sik, who also
receives $1,800, has a six-month deal until August 31.
The employment contracts of Chinese Ding Bao Yu,
Liu Yu Fu and Ding Yan, who are getting $1,000 each as wushu
trainers, will expire on December 31.
Meanwhile, those working with the national
boxers, divers and muay thai athletes have contracts until next
year.
Cuban Enrique Tisert, who earns $540, has a
contract ending January 8, while that of Dagoberto Scot, who
receives $360, will expire on February 8.
Diving’s Zhang Dehu of China, who earns
$2,500, has a contract until January 31.
Pudpadnoy Omglin, who has a monthly take of
$1,500, will serve the muay thai team until February 12.
“Their contracts can be renewed yearly
depending upon the recommendation of the national sports
associations they belong to,” said Allan Gatchalian, who works in
the NSA affairs unit of the government sports agency.
