Agustin scores 25 as Adamson downs NU

JOHN MARC AGUSTIN had a career-high 25 points to lift Adamson University to a 73-65 victory over National University on Sunday in the 71st University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament at the Philsports Arena.

The 6-foot-4 Agustin, son of former PBA star Ato Agustin, also had five rebounds and a steal as the Soaring Falcons ended their two-game skid.

“Maganda ang laro ni Marc ngayon. First time ko siya nakitang maglaro ng ganyan. Sana magtuluy-tuloy ang magandang laro ng mga bata,” said Adamson coach Leo Austria.

Jan Colina added 11 points and four rebounds while Michael Galinato and Alex Nuyles chipped in nine and seven markers, respectively for Adamson.

“We are hoping that this win will boost their confidence in our next games. Lahat ng teams pantay-pantay ang level ng paglalaro kaya mas matindi ang kumpetisyon ngayon,” added Austria.

Edwin Asoro finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs, who remained winless after three outings.

Jonathan Jahnke only made eight points while Chris dela Cruz and Jewel Ponferrada contributed seven apiece.
