Toyota donates math
lesson guides
THE Toyota Motor Phils.
Foundation (TMPF) announced it recently donated complete sets of
math lesson guides to all the 17 public elementary schools in Santa
Rosa City, Laguna.
In a ceremony witnessed by Mayor
Arlene Arcillas-Nazareno of Santa Rosa City , TMPF President Dr.
David Go said the donation is the fulfillment of Toyota’s desire
to further enhance the capabilities of all teachers in the city. Toyota’s
adopted school, the Pulong Santa Cruz Elementary School (PSCES),
already received complete sets of the lesson guides in 2006.
A recent report given by Dr.
Lilian Apuada, principal of PSCES, stated that the Toyota-adopted
school ranked second in the Division of Santa Rosa City in the
National Achievement Test for school year 2006 to 2007, with very
significant improvement in mathematics. The report also showed
that the school’s achievement tests, where PSCES scored an average
of 43 percent in 2004 to 2005, improved greatly to 74 percent in
2006 to 2007.
“We are encouraged by the
report,” said Dr. Go. “Such an achievement came about as a
collective effort of administrators, teachers, parents, students and
the community.”
As Toyota celebrates its 20th
year in the Philippines, Dr. Go said the carmaker will continue to
support such undertakings in education.

Chevron expresses appreciation
to partners
Chevron Global Lubricants (CGL)
bared it recently held a Customer Appreciation Night for its
Philippine customers at a Makati hotel, where among those present
were senior officials from Toyota, Isuzu, Trans-Asia and others.
“This is a very important
engagement for us, because it gives us an opportunity to pay tribute
to the partnerships we have established with our customers
throughout the years,” said CGL Area Business Manager Shibly
Latiff. “More than being buyers, our partners help us translate
our concept of Human Energy into meaningful products and services
that can touch everyone’s daily lives,” he said.
CGL said customers present at the
event were equally proud of their partnership with the company.
“We chose Chevron because it
has a good reputation, not only in terms of product quality, but
marketing support as well,” said Allen Rufo, assistant vice
president in the technical department of Toyota Motor Phils.
CGL Regional Sales Manager for
Asia-Pacific Stephen Babb also flew in from Singapore to celebrate
the occasion with its most valued customers in the country, the
company said.
“The Philippines is a crucial
market for our company. For this reason, we put every chance we have
to interact with our customers in very high regard,” said Babb.
Card company says new tech
benefits drivers
Mega Data Corp. and Amalgamated
Motors of the Philippines Inc. said that thanks to a new card
protection technology that they introduced in 1992, the Land
Transportation Office (LTO) is able to offer thousands of Filipino
drivers a prompt, 30-minutes-or-less system of issuing driver’s
licenses. Mega Data said LTO cards presently used are equipped with
better security features.
Mega Data said that through its
printing technology that can easily be set up in any LTO branch, LTO
was able to successfully decentralize its driver’s license
processing operations, in turn reducing backlog in the delivery of
services to the motoring public. Through this technology too, LTO
was able to introduce one-stop license renewal kiosks that are
strategically located in commercial centers and shopping malls, Mega
Data said.
