RP bowlers to compete in Bangkok

AFTER a sterling performance last week, the RP men’s bowling team will compete in the World Championship in Thailand next month.

Seeing action on August 21 to 31 tournament to be held at the SF Strike Bowl Ngamwongwan in Bangkok are Chester King, Tyrone Ongpauco, Frederick Ong, Raoul Miranda, Vlad Tuazon, Benshir Layoso, Biboy Rivera and Paolo Valdez.

National head coach Nico Valderrama is optimistic that the RP bowlers will keep their winning ways in the 47-nation world meet.

“The victory in the Asian Championships will inspire our bowlers to do their best in the coming world championship,” said Valderrama.

The Philippines won two golds, one silver and one bronze to finish third overall in the Asian Championship behind South Korea (6-5-4) and Malaysia (3-4-0).

Meanwhile, King and Miranda were tapped by the Asian Bowling Federation to represent the region in the Federation Cup in Barcelona later this month.
