Maynilad upgrades Malabon waterwork

MAYNILAD Water Services Inc. said it completed rehabilitation works in the central part of Malabon City.

In a statement, the water utility said it finished a five-month project worth P80.36 million for the replacement of 22.6 kilometers of old and leaking pipelines to improve service levels in the said area.

Because of the service improvement project, the company said it increased service connections from 4,600 to 5,491 and doubled water pressure in the area to 15 psi.

The project likewise enabled Maynilad to recover 18 million liters per day of water that used to be lost due to leaks and illegal connections.

Quirico Arellano, Maynilad technical manager for the Malabon/Navotas Business Center, said complaints of no supply and low water quality were rife among residents before the water network in this area was upgraded.
